MADISON, WISC. - A game-tying goal late in the second half was answered with two scoring strikes as Rock Valley College defeated the Madison College men's soccer team 3-1 at
Irwin A. & Robert D. Goodman Pitch-East on Friday. The loss marks the first in North Central Community College Conference play this season for the 'Pack. Despite the setback, the WolfPack still own a 10-4-1 in the all-time series with the Golden Eagles.
The visitors from Rock Valley College (2-1-0, 2-1-0) struck first with a goal in the 12' against sophomore goalkeeper
Sebastian Varela. The WolfPack was held scoreless for nearly 65 minutes, but a perfect pass from sophomore
Jonas Luskey Sanders set up a successful equalizer for freshman
Dhananjai Subba. The goal was the second this season for the Madison, Wisconsin, native.
With 25 minutes left to try and find the lead, the 'Pack quickly found themselves chasing after the Golden Eagles responded by burying a shot less than a minute later for what proved to be the game-winner. Rock Valley College padded their lead with an insurance goal in the 88'.
Varela finished with five saves while facing a flurry of shots. Rock Valley College controlled much of the action en route to a 24-13 advantage in total shots and an 8-4 edge in shots on goal.
