ELGIN, ILL. - The Madison College women's soccer team was unable to find the net Monday, and as a result, suffered their first loss of the season in a 3-0 setback at Region 4 foe Elgin Community College. The loss is just the second in nine all-time meetings with the Spartans, and snaps a seven-match win or tie streak from 2015 to 2019.
Neither team was able to convert in the game's first 45 minutes as the score was still 0-0 at halftime. Elgin Community College outshot the WolfPack by a 12-8 margin in total shots, and owned a 9-6 advantage in shots on goal. Freshman goalkeeper
Marin Stauffacher was up to the task with nine saves.
That all changed in a hurry when the Spartans started the second half with goal in the 49'. They added another ten minutes later, as well as a final tally in the 80' to put the game out of reach.
Stauffacher added a pair of saves in the second half, however, the WolfPack offense was stymied on their three shots on goal. Freshman
