CHICAGO HEIGHTS, ILL. - Following several improved performances, the Madison College women's basketball team was able to put a full game performance together, resulting in a resounding 72-53 victory over Prairie State College to snap an eight-game season-opening losing streak. The WolfPack scored their most points in a game this season with four different players in double-figures en route to their first win, which also came in the first-ever meeting with the Pioneers on Saturday.
The Region 4 matchup started on a great note for Madison College with an 8-0 run, however, it was quickly answered by a 14-2 push from Prairie State College (1-6). After two lead changes and four ties, the first quarter closed at 17-17, freshman
Taylor Ripp opened the next ten minutes with a free throw and WolfPack began to pull away with 11 consecutive points. The WolfPack also closed the quarter with a 6-0 run to complete a 20-7 differential and own a 13-point halftime lead. The double-digit lead was maintained throughout the second half, growing to as much as 19 at the end of the game as the 'Pack reeled off a final eight-point surge.
Sophomore
Olivia Marron led the quartert of high scorers with 16 points, marking the fifth-straight game with ten or more points for the La Farge, Wisconsin, native. Marron was 6 of 10 overall and 4 of 8 at the free throw line, to go along with a team-best seven rebounds. Ripp, a guard from Lodi, Wisconsin, converted 6 of 9 field goal attempts and added one free throw for a career-high 13 points. She also added five rebounds and four assists off the bench.
First year guard
Lauren Thole established her own career-high scoring mark with a dozen points on 6 of 11 shooting. The former Lancaster HS athlete reeled in four boards and three assists. Fellow first year guard
Brianna Hendricks rounded out the players with at least ten points as she netted 11 points, hitting one of the team's two 3-pointers in the process. Hendricks, a native of Ixonia, Wisconsin, tallied a career-best five rebounds and five steals.
The season-high scoring total was aided by the team's more efficient shooting night as Madison College went 29 for 64 (45%) overall, and their 20 turnovers is the fewest in a game this season. The WolfPack owned a 48-37 advantage on the glass that led to a 16-5 edge in second chance points, as well as a 40-20 differential in points in the paint.

Madison College (1-8) continues a three-game road swing with a trip to Elgin Community College (2-4) on Tuesday, December 7. The game was rescheduled from November 6, and the WolfPack will enter with a 6-2 lead in the all-time series with the Spartans. Tip off in Elgin, Illinois, is at 6:00 p.m.
