CRYSTAL LAKE, ILL. - The Madison College men's basketball team began the 2021-22 season with a 78-53 loss at Region 4 foe McHenry County College on Tuesday night. The setback snaps a four-game win streak against the Scots, as well as a six year win streak in season-opening games for the WolfPack. The all-time series against MCC now stands at 4-2 in favor of Madison College.
The host Scots (1-0) were able to build an eight point halftime lead with a 31-23 advantage. Madison College was unable to close that gap in the second half and were outscored 47-30 as both teams picked up the offensive production. The WolfPack finished the game shooting 27% after knocking down 16 of 59 shots, including an 8 for 25 (32%) effort from long range. At the free throw line, 'the Pack went 14 for 30 (46.7%).
Freshman guard
Telin Porter came off the bench to lead the 'Pack with 13 points. The Houston, Texas, native, buried three 3-pointers as part of a 5 for 11 shooting performance from the field. Porter also talled a team-high two steals and was one of three players with a blocked shot. First year guard/forward
Nik Feller also reached double figures in scoring with ten points with one make from beyond the arc as part of a 3 for 13 shooting night. He also hit half of his six free throw attempts.

Keith Hoffman used all 6'8" of his frame to secure a team-high 11 rebounds, and fell a basket shy of his first career double-double with eight points. Second year guard
Ma'Teo Holland dished out a team-leading three assists to match his three points.

Madison College (0-1) will try again for the season's first victory on Saturday, November 6 when they travel to play Elgin Community College (1-0). The Spartans, now playing as a Division II program, have won seven of the nine previous meetings, including three straight over the WolfPack. Tip off in Elgin, Illinois, is at 3:00 p.m.
