Halftime deficit too much despite 18 from Hendricks

WolfPack seek to end season-opening losing skid Tuesday against Rochester

MADISON, WISC. - The second quarter of Saturday's women's basketball game proved to be the difference in Madison College's 59-49 loss to Region 4 opponent Carl Sandburg College inside H. Douglas Redsten Gymnasium. Freshman Brianna Hendricks poured in a career-high 18 points, however, the Chargers now boasts a 5-4 record all-time after snapping the WolfPack's three-game win streak in the head-to-head series.

A competitive game throughout, Madison College and Carl Sandburg College (1-2) were tied after the game's first ten minutes with a 14-14 score. The second quarter saw the 'Pack fall behind 27-22 heading into halftime. Madison College hung close throughout the second half, but were outscored by two points in the third quarter and three points in the fourth quarter to ultimately lose by ten.

Hendricks knocked down 5 of 12 shots, including a three-pointer, and was nearly perfect at the free throw line, going 7 for 8 en route to surpassing her previous season-high point total by 11. The former Watertown HS athlete also established new career high's with eight rebounds and nine steals, the latter tying her for sixth most in a single game in team history. 

Sophomore Olivia Marron also scored in double-figures with ten points on 3 of 11 shooting with four free throws. First year guard Viola Larson had nine points and seven rebounds, while fellow freshman Taylor Ripp matched Hendricks with eight rebounds, to go along with two points. 

Madison College finished the game shooting 25% (16-65) overall, 27% (3-11) from beyond the arc, and 14 of 22 (63%) at the free throw line. They also finished with 44 rebounds and 28 turnovers.
