MADISON, WISC. - Not long after standing with six of her teammates in a Sophomore Night celebration, outside hitter
Jadyn Holman put together a career-best performance in leading the Madison College women's volleyball team to a 3-1 win over Joliet Junior College in the regular season and North Central Community College Conference finale Thursday at
H .Douglas Redsten Gymnasium. Holman tied a school record for kills in a match as the WolfPack went on to a 25-18, 25-22, 20-25, and 25-17 victory to push their win streak over the Wolves to 20 straight matches and their lead in the all-time series to 25-2. The 'Pack wraps up the regular season with a 15-12 overall record and 6-4 mark in N4C play.
The match opened with three significant service runs in the opening set for Madison College. Sophomore setter
Kaleia Lawrence registered a pair of aces in a five-point run that turned a two-point deficit into a three-point lead midway through.
Calla Borchert and Holman each followed with multi-point services before Holman ended the first set with a kill. Second year defensive specialist
Amelia Walton began the second set with back-to-back aces, and then added two more in an extended service at the end of the set to stave off a Wolves rally. Joliet Junior College (18-14, 3-7) reversed course in the third set with a 6-1 start, and took advantage of 11 attack errors from the home team to extend the match into a fourth set, which Madison College led from start to finish.
Holman, who five matches prior racked up 24 kills to tie for third most in a match in program history, hammered a career-high 25 kills to become the third player in program history to do so. The native of Mt. Horeb, Wisconsin, needed 45 attempts and posted a .356 attack percentage. She also added 13 digs and two aces for 11th double-double. Fellow sophomore
Calla Borchert hit a team-best .400 efficiency en route to 11 kills, while also collecting eight digs, 5.0 blocks, and two aces.
Abigail Lewis kicked in another eight kills to help the WolfPack reach 52 for the match and surpassing the 50 kills in the previous 3-1 win over JJC for the most in a four-set match this fall. Madison College counted double-digit kills in every set for an average of 13.5 on a team attack percentage of .282.
Mariah Best, a freshman setter from Waunakee, Wisconsin, registered 27 assists, eight digs, five kills, and two aces. Lawrence had 19 assists, eight digs, and an ace. Former Verona Area HS athlete
Amelia Walton keyed the service game with five of the team's 13 aces, and also had 14 digs. Libero
Abby Steinhauer tallied a team-high 20 digs to help the 'Pack reach 90 for the match.
Prior to first serve, a ceremony was held to recognize the seven-member Sophomore Class of 2021, which included Walton, Borchert, Holman,
Olivia Marron, K. Lawrence, Lewis, and
Taleise Lawrence, who served up an ace.

The tournament seedings, pairings, and match information is scheduled ot be released on Sunday, October 28, with the winners advancing to the championship match on Saturday, October 30.
