MADISON, WISC. - In a matchup of two teams that have controlled the North Central Community College Conference and Region IV competition the past couple seasons, Madison College made a huge statement with a resounding 6-1 win at
Irwin A. & Robert D. Goodman Pitch-East on Saturday. The decisive victory was keyed by a near record-setting performance from second year forward/midfielder
Mary Raemisch, who placed four goals in the back of the net. The WolfPack is now 10-3-1 in the head-to-head series with the Wolves, and will play them again on September 25.
It took just 90 seconds for Madison College to put a tally on the scoreboard as Raemisch gently redirected a pass from fellow second year
Lillian Glackin that crept pass the Joliet Junior College goalkeeper. It stayed 1-0 until the Wolves evened the score in the 19'. The goal ended a scoreless minutes streak of 108 minutes to start the season for sophomore goalkeeper
Kelly Kubicek.
From that point on, it was all WolfPack. Raemisch sent home her second goal just seven minutes later, with defender
Anna Cappaert earning the assist.
Lydia Webster, a native of DeForest, Wisconsin, made it 3-1 as she converted another Glackin pass for her first career goal in the 33'. Madison College took a 4-1 advantage into the half thanks to Raemish' third goal. The former Lodi High School athlete earned her second career hat-trick on a perfect pass from Webster.
Madison College tacked on two more goals in the second half. The first completed an impressive performance by Raemisch, who again took advantage of a Cappaert pass to score and become just the sixth player in program history to register four goals in a single game. The final scoring strike was credited to
Lauren Thole, giving the first year winger her first career goal and Webster another assist.
Raemisch finished with a career-high four goals and eight points to power the 'Pack. Webster had four points with a goal and two assists. Cappaert and Glackin each had two assists.
Kubicek surrendered just the one goal in 90 minutes and was credited with two saves on the day.Â
The WolfPack limited Joliet Junior College (1-2, 0-2) to a handful of shots for the entire match.
