RIVER GROVE, ILL. - The Madison College women's soccer team put Triton College on its heels early and kept the pressure on throughout a 5-0 road win in North Central Community College Conference play on Wednesday. After posting two goals within 30 seconds of each other in the game's first 13 minutes, the WolfPack rolled to their third consecutive win to start the season. The victory also extends a head-to-head winning streak against the Trojans to three, with the 'Pack improving to 9-1-2 since the all-time series begin in 2014. One day prior, Madison College was listed at #9 in the
NJCAA Division III Poll.
Freshmen
Lydia Webster and
Haylee Miles gave Madison College a comfortable lead in the game's opening minutes. Webster, a midfielder/defender from DeForest, Wisconsin, converted a
Mary Raemisch pass for her second career goal in the 12'. It was followed immediately by Miles striking the first collegiate goal for the Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, product on another successful pass by Raemisch. Before the half ended, second year midfielder
Jenna Kohrt punched in a goal on an assist by defender
Grace Bujan to make it 3-0. Kohrt added her second goal of the game and third of the season late in the game with an 88' strike off a pass from Raemisch, who found herself on the scoring end of the match's final goal right before the buzzer on an assist by freshman
Emma Strieker.
Sophomore
Kelly Kubicek picked up her second shutout of the season, making four saves in the process. The former Oregon High School athlete owns a 0.33 goals against average and a 0.957 save percentage. Kohrt, who hails from Monona, Wisconsin, put together a career-best game with two goals on five total shots. Raemisch had a hand in four of the five goals scored, improved her season totals to six goals, four assists, and 16 points, placing her tied for fourth in the nation in all three categories.Â
Madison College finished with a 21-5 advantage in shots taken and a 12-4 edge in shots on goal.Â
