MADISON, WISC. - It didn't come without a few white-knuckle moments, but the Madison College women's volleyball team earned its fourth consecutive three-set sweep with a 3-0 defeat of defending North Central Community College Conference champion Rock Valley College inside

Sidni Walgurski and
Calla Borchert combined for 19 kills and seven blocks as the WolfPack dominated the net to stay near the top of the N4C standings. The 25-20, 25-12, and 25-22 win ends a two-match losing streak against the Golden Eagles, who still lead the all-time series by a 39-28-1 margin.
The night's opening set was played within a four-point margin until the home team ran off three straight points to take a 23-18 lead en route to the five-point victory. The WolfPack owned a 6-5 edge early in the second set before earning a commanding set win by taking 19 of the next 26 points. Rock Valley College (10-12, 2-2) recovered in the third set and struck early by jumping out to a 7-2 lead, but following a Madison College timeout, the WolfPack battled back even the score at 13-all. Still tied at 21-21, Madison College closed out the match with four of the last five points to stay one-half game back of Harper College in league play.
Walgurski hammered home a team-high ten kills with a .273 hitting percentage. It's just the second double-digit kills match for the a six-footer from Green Bay, Wisconsin, who also had three blocks. Alongside her, Borchert registered nine kills and a team-leading .381 efficiency to go-along with four blocks. Sophomore
Samantha Kessenich matched Borchert with a career-high four blocks, while also contributing six kills.Â
First year setters
Lena La Fleur and
Kaleia Lawrence racked up 14 and 12 assists, respectively. La Fleur, a former Mt. Horeb High School athlete, now owns nine double-figure assist performances, while Lawrence boasts six such efforts.
Three players were able to reach ten or more digs in the match, led by freshman libero
Amelia Walton with 26. It marks her second-highest output of the season and her third match with 20 or more. Sophomores
Olivia Marron and
Cathleen Flannery each tallied a dozen digs, while Flannery also matched second year defensive specialist
Sage Esser with a team-best two aces.
For the match, Madison College counted 34 kills, giving them an average of 34.75 over the four-match win streak. The WolfPack opened the match hitting .345 in the first set, and finished with a .176 attack percentage. They also had nine blocks, five aces, 30 assists, and 77 digs, which stands as their highest total for a three-set match this season.
The two teams will square off again in Rockford, Illinois, on October 17.Â
