JOLIET, ILL. - The Madison College women's volleyball team is building confidence and momentum after picking up their third consecutive win with a 3-0 sweep Tuesday at North Central Community College Conference foe Joliet Junior College. The WolfPack used a solid hitting and serving effort to earn set wins of 25-20, 25-17, and 25-21. The victory is the 17th straight - 11 have been decided by just three sets - over the Wolves and puts the 'Pack ahead by a 22-2 count in the all-time series.
Madison College registered double-digit kills in each set, starting with 13 in the opening set and a dozen each in the last two games, while also finishing with an even .200 attack percentage. Helping the offense were nine service aces and five blocks, while the WolfPack also racked up 31 assists and 60 digs.
For the second straight match,
Sidni Walgurski, a freshman middle blocker, earned eight kills to lead the attack. The native of Green Bay, Wisconsin, also posted a team-best .350 hitting efficiency. Sophomore
Samantha Kessenich and freshman
Calla Borchert were right behind her with seven and six kills, respectively. Three others also had multiple kills in the match.
First-year setter
Skyler Salter was a driving force in the offensive effort with 14 assists, marking the second match with ten or more assists for the former Monroe High School athlete.
Lena La Fleur followed with nine assists. The freshman did have three aces to match
Cathleen Flannery for team honors in that category.
Defensively, sophomore
Olivia Marron was productive at the net and away from it with three blocks and ten digs.
Amelia Walton led in digs with 20, reaching that plateau for the second time this season.
The two teams will play again in Madison on October 15.

H. Douglas Redsten Gymnasium on Thursday, September 18 to square off with defending N4C champion Rock Valley College (10-11, 2-1). The Golden Eagles took two of three meetings in 2018 and have won three of the last four contests after the WolfPack had reeled off 14 straight from 2012 to 2017. The head-to-head series stands at 39-27-1 in favor of RVC. First serve is slated for 6:00 p.m.
