Road rally delivers narrow N4C win at Rock Valley

WolfPack score twice in opening minutes of second half to beat RVC for fourth straight time

ROCKFORD, ILL. - Facing a one-goal deficit halfway through their North Central Community College Conference match Wednesday at Rock Valley College, the Madison College women's soccer team went on a scoring spree to begin the second half and steal a 2-1 win. The game-winner came from Mackenzie Bielicki, marking the first career goal for the freshman. The two goals within two minutes lifted the WolfPack to their second consecutive win, as well as a fourth straight victory and a 4-6-1 record in the head-to-head series.

The Golden Eagles (3-2, 3-2) seized control of the game early with four shots in the game's first few minutes, eventually netting a goal in the 7' against Madison College goalkeeper Kelly Kubicek. The sophomore responded with eight saves throughout the rest of the match to give the visitors a chance at the W away from home.

Still down 1-0 to start the second half, the WolfPack went on the offensive and it paid off. Sophomore Anna Cappaert blasted a free kick over the outstretched arms of the RVC 'keeper in the 47'. The second year defender then delivered a centering pass that was converted on a header by Bielicki that put the 'Pack out in front two minutes later.

Madison College attempted just five shots in the game, however, all five were on goal. Rock Valley had 18 total shots and ten shots on goal. The home team also owned a 6-1 edge in corner kicks.

The two programs will play against in Madison on October 12, marking the final game of the regular season and Sophomore Day.
