Rout of rival Stormers gives WolfPack second straight win

Four different players score as Madison College earns first N4C victory

MADISON, WISC. - The Madison College men's soccer team used a resounding 6-0 win over rival Milwaukee Area Technical College to earn its first North Central Community College Conference victory of 2019 on Monday at Irwin A. & Robert D. Goodman Pitch-East. The game, originally scheduled for the previous Wednesday, but postponed due to lightning, saw the WolfPack score a season-high six goals by four different players. The first two-game win streak for the 'Pack also gave Madison College its 15th straight victory in the all-time series that now stands at 45-15-2 in favor of the WolfPack.

A scoreless match through 25 minutes quickly turned into a lopsided affair as Madison College tallied four goals within a 12-minute stretch late in the first half. Sophomore Ben Saric got it started with a goal in the 26', thanks to an assist by first year midfield Pablo Guzman. The goal was the first career scoring strike for the second year defense/midfield from Bulter, Wisconsin. The 32' saw freshman Abubacarr Joof set up Guzman for his second goal of the year, and the tandem combined efforts against less than three minutes later when Guzman converted another Joof. Madison College made it 4-0 before halftime with an unassisted boot the back of the net by first year midfielder Bubacarr Bah, marking yet another first career goal.

The second half featured a pair of goals that both came off of the same foot as freshman forward Samuka Toure tallied goals in the 52' and 65' to make it a lead of a half dozen. Assisting on the goals were freshman and Madison, Wisconsin, native Jheison Garcia.

Freshman goalkeeper Sebastian Varela made his second start of the season and earned his second shutout. The native of San Jose, Costa Rica, made six saves to boost his scoreless minutes streak to 200 minutes.

The WolfPack attempted ten more total shots than Milwaukee Area Technical College (0-4, 0-4), and held an 11-6 advantage in shots on goal.

The two teams will meet again on October 5 in Milwaukee.
