COON RAPIDS, MINN. - Defense ruled the day as Madison College and Anoka-Ramsey Community College opened the 2019 men's soccer season Sunday afternoon. Neither team was able to net a goal through regulation and two overtime periods before settling for a 0-0 draw.
The Golden Rams put nine of their 16 shots on goal, while the WolfPack saw four of their 14 shots come close. Sophomore goalkeeper
Saxon LaFlash was up to the task with nine saves over 110 minutes and earned his second career shutout win.Â
Madison College seemed to control the action throughout both overtime periods, posting a 4-1 advantage in shots taken. Anoka-Ramsey, meanwhile, was unable to convert on eight corner kicks, including four in the overtimes.
Sophomore
Jonas Luskey-Sanders, midfielder/forward from Madison, Wisconsin, attempted seven of the team's 14 shots and put two on net. Five others were able to attempt a shot.
In their three all-time meetings, the two programs are now 1-1-1. The last time the WolfPack began a season with a draw was in 2015, when they notched a 1-1 tie against McHenry County College.

Irwin A. & Robert D. Goodman Pitch-East for the first time this season when they take on Joliet Junior College (1-0) on Saturday, August 31. The match marks the North Central Community College Conference opener for both teams. The WolfPack is 8-12-3 in the head-to-head series with wins in six of the last nine meetings, including a 2-0-1 record against the Wolves in 2018. Kickoff is set for 12:00 p.m.
