MADISON, WISC. - The wins just keep coming for the Madison College baseball team, which now owns a 15-game win streak after securing two more victories on Saturday with a North Central Community College Conference sweep of Harper College at
Robin Roberts Field. The WolfPack took the opener by an 11-5 final before needing just six innings to claim a 12-2 decision in the nightcap, clinching a share of their sixth N4C title and their first in four years. Still receiving votes in the
NJCAA Divison II Poll, the 'Pack is now 22-4 all-time against the Hawks and have won 16 consecutive games in the head-to-head series.
Game #1: Madison College 11, Harper College 5 (7 innings)
The visiting Hawks drew first blood in the opener, putting up a three-spot in the first inning with three hits, one walk, and an error. Madison College got two of those runs back in the home half with three consecutive base hits, the last of which was a two-RBI double by sophomore outfielder
Adam LaRock. Still down a run in the third, the 'Pack made Harper College pay for a lead-off walk, turning it into a game-tying run on
Nick Gile's single up the middle. Four batters - and two walks - later the bases were loaded with two away for
Lucas Trebian, and the second year catcher drew a walk to force in the go-ahead run. The 'Pack tacked on two more runs in the fourth with run-scoring doubles by Gile and LaRock. The Hawks, however, were not going down without a fight and narrowed the differential to 6-5 with two more runs in the top of the fifth. As they have been throughout the win streak, Madison College answered the bell in a big way, plating five runs in the bottom half. Facing a new pitcher who put the first two batters aboard, the home team pounced and made it 8-5 with
Derek Lee's two-run single. After
Walker Jenkins doubled home run, Gile capped the scoring with a two-run homer to left for his third of the season.Â
Gile, a native of Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, was a perfect 4 for 4 at the plate with four runs batted in and three runs scored, setting new season-high's in all three categories. Gile's three hits included two doubles and a homer. Jenkins, a former Sun Prairie High School athlete, finished 3 for 4 with a season-best four runs scored and one driven in. LaRock drove in three runs with his two hits as the 2-4 hitters went a combined 9 for 12 with eight RBI and seven runs scored. Of the WolfPack's ten hits, six went for extra bases.
Starter
Carl Renz (3-0) worked four and a third innings and matched a career-high with nine strikeouts. He allowed five runs, three of which were earned, on four hits and four walks before giving way to fellow first year righthander
Connor Jasurda. He tossed the final two and two-thirds innings, holding the Hawks to just two hits and recording four punchouts to earn his first career save.Â

Jarrett Scheelk, and

Henry Henk ended the game in a run-rule walk-off by bringing home Holin.
