WolfPack honor eight on Sophomore Day prior to season final setback

Madison College finishes 4th in N4C, opens postseason February 23 vs. Elgin

MADISON, WISC. - The Madison College men's basketball team said goodbye to eight players as part of their annual Sophomore Day celebration at H. Douglas Redsten Gymnasium prior to a 110-93 loss to rival Milwaukee Area Technical College in the regular season final. Four players scored in double-figures against the Stormers, who are ranked #15 in the NJCAA Division II Poll, as the WolfPack finished the regular season with a 14-12 overall record and an 8-6 finish in the N4C that placed the 'Pack in fourth place.

Milwaukee Area Technical College (25-4, 12-2) led from start to finish after taking the opening tip right to the basket as part of a 7-0 run to begin the game. A pair of Adam Anhold free throws capped an 11-6 burst by the WolfPack to make it a two-point game before the Stormers began to slowly pull away. Runs of 10 and 16 consecutive points allowed the visitors to push the differential to a first-half high of 31 points before going to halftime with a 62-33 contest. Madison College began to put it together in the second half, scoring nearly twice as many points as they did in the first 20 minutes. Both teams were hot out of the locker room, with the 'Pack hitting its first three shots and the Stormers going 2 for 3. The home team engineered a 13-2 stretch that brought the deficit to 18 point with under 11 minutes remaining, however, it would be the closest they would get until scoring seven of the final nine points of the day to take a 17-point loss.

Guard Jalen Addison made 5 of 14 shots with a pair of three-pointers and a perfect 8 of 8 at the free throw line to score a team-best 20 points. The former Milwaukee Hamilton High School standout averaged 22.0 points of the final three games of the season and finished the season at 15.9 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.8 assists.

Freshman Adam Anhold posted 18 points on 6 of 13 shooting with one make from long distance and a 5 for 7 effort at the free throw line. The 6'8" forward from Janesville, Wisconsin, also grabbed nine rebounds. For the regular season, Anhold averaged a 18.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks, leading the team in all three categories.

Second year guard/forward Alex Easterday hit a team-high three field goal attempts from outside the arc en route to a 15-point, seven-rebound afternoon. The Elkhorn, Wisconsin, native tallied 9.2 points and 4.4 rebounds a contest.

Former Verona Area High School standout Nathaniel Buss rounded out the double-digit scorers with a dozen points. The two-year guard made two shots from distance to reach double-figures for the fourth consecutive game, and finished the regular season with averaged of 13.2 points and 3.0 assists per game. Fellow second year guard Sean Suchomel had eight points and a team-high six assists as he led the team with a 3.6 assists per game average, and freshman forward Mark Simmons had six points and a team-leading ten rebounds in the game.

Despite two head-to-head losses this season, Madison College still owns a 64-50 advantage against it's oldest rival in the all-time series.

Prior to tip off, the team honor the six-member Sophomore Class of 2019, which included Addison, Buss, Bryce Moore, Suchomel, Easterday, and Parker Sigmon. Also honored were Anhold and fellow freshman DeAngelo Jones, both of whom will be moving on from Madison College after the 2018-19 season.
