PALATINE, ILL. & MADISON, WISC. - In the span of about 22 hours, the Madison College women's basketball team earned to North Central Community College Conference wins by lopsided totals after closing out the road portion of the regular season schedule with a 76-37 victory at Harper College on Friday, then opening a four-game homestand with an 85-44 defeat of the College of DuPage on Saturday at
H. Douglas Redsten Gymnasium. The WolfPack have won five straight games in league play and finished the regular season with a 7-5 mark away from home. They posted a 5-1 record on their recent six-game road trip and will finish with four-straight on the home floor as part of a stretch of six games in 11 days.
Friday, Feb. 8: Madison College 76, Harper College 37
A 23-10 first quarter put the visiting WolfPack in control early, and the momentum carried from there. Madison outscored the Hawks by six in the second quarter to own a 38-19 advantage at halftime. Ahead by 24 entering the fourth quarter, the 'Pack poured it on with a 20-5 scoring differential over the final ten minutes. Defensively, they held Harper College (2-24, 1-9) to just single digit point totals in two quarters and the 37 total points allowed is the lowest in a N4C game by Madison College so far this season.
A balanced attack featured three players tying for top honors with 18 points each. Sophomore
Caitlyn Gilbertson set a career-high after converting 9 of 11 shots en route to her fourth consecutive double-digit effort. She also finished with eight rebounds. Freshman
Aniah Williams went 9 of 18 overall, while also adding eight boards and four steals. Sophomore transfer
Shaquita Lee was the third player thanks to a 9 for 16 effort from the floor. The former Madison West High School standout had seven rebounds, a team-leading six assists, and matched Williams with a team-high four steals. Freshman
Mary Raemisch, playing in just her sixth game since joining the team at semester, hauled in a team-best ten rebounds and finished with eight points.
Madison College finished the night 17 for 57 (29%) and made just 1 of 17 (6%) tries from deep and only 2 of 7 (28%) free throws. They made up for those struggles with a 49-21 rebounding advantage that included 18 offensive rebounds and led to a 24-4 edge in second chance scoring. The WolfPack have won 14 in a row over the Hawks and boast a 16-2 lead in the all-time series.
Saturday, Feb. 9: Madison College 85, College of DuPage 44
Back on the home floor for the first time in exactly one month, Madison College repeated their efforts from the night before and made short work of the Chaparrals. The 'Pack charged out to a 21-12 lead to end the first quarter, then out-paced the College of DuPage by a 24-15 margin in the second to take an 18-point margin into the locker room. The third quarter saw the home team add another six points to their lead, then give way to allowing just one basket in the fourth quarter for a 19-2 differential over the final ten minutes to mark their best defensive quarter of the season.
Aniah Williams posted her fourth game with at least 30 points in conference play as she totaled 31 points on 12 of 22 shooting. Her four 3-pointers marks her sixth game with that many makes from distance. The Beloit, Wisconsin, native also collected a career-best nine steals.
Shaquita Lee registered 24 points, making eight shots overall and going 7 for 8 at the charity stripe. She completed her day with ten rebounds, five steals, and a team-high four assists for her third career double-double. Sophomore
Tianna Sackett rounded out the double-digit scoring with 18 points, one below her career-best, while
Mary Raemisch was the top glass cleaner with 13 rebounds, to go along with five points.
Madison College owned a 48-27 rebounding edge and a 27-13 lead in points off turnovers. The WolfPack shot 48% (32-66) overall, 6 of 16 (37%) outside the arc, and 15 of 23 (65%) from the line. The two teams combined for 48 turnovers as the 'Pack boosted their all-time series lead to 25-13 with their 13th straight victory.

Madison College (17-6, 8-3) will attempt to keep any hopes of a N4C title alive on Monday, February 11 against Rock Valley College (20-5, 11-0). The Golden Eagles are ranked #4 in the
NJCAA Division III Poll, while the WolfPack is just outside the top ten and receiving votes. Monday's matchup is a make-up game from January 30. Rock Valley has won the last five meetings, including an
88-66 decision on January 5 that gave RVC a 21-18 edge all-time. Tip off is at 5:30 p.m. inside
