WolfPack, Williams bounce back with lopsided win over Kishwaukee

Sophomore drains five 3's to lead four players in double-figures

MADISON, WISC. - The Madison College women's basketball team bounced back from their worst loss of the season by taking care of NJCAA Division II Kishwaukee College in a lopsided 83-56 win Saturday inside H. Dougas Redsten Gymnasium. Four players scored in double-figures, led by a season-high point total from sophomore Aniah Williams. The WolfPack has won four straight over the Kougars and is 16-8 all-time.

Madison College built a ten-point lead in the first quarter when a 12-2 run broke open a 4-4 tie, however, Kishwaukee College (2-6) answered with two buckets to close out the quarter within six. The second quarter would belong to the WolfPack, who turned a 19-16 advantage with 8:33 remaining into a 19-point cushion thanks to an 18-2 surge that included nine points from Williams. She finished with a dozen points in the quarter and helped send the 'Pack into the locker room with a healthy 46-24 lead. The Kougars played tough and won the third quarter 18-14 when Madison College began the second half slow with a 1 for 10 shooting effort. Kishwaukee College pulled within 14 twice, but the home team was able to answer and eventually went on to lead by as much as 28 points. 

Williams, a 5'8" guard from Beloit, Wisconsin, drained 5 of 8 three-pointers as part of a 10 for 16 shooting day overall to reach 25 points. The season-high point total comes just three days after the second year player was held under ten point for the first time in her career. She also finished with five assists and three rebounds. 

Second year forward Lilly Dorman dominated the interior with 14 points on 7 of 11 shooting to match her career-high. The former Madison East High School athlete now has three games of ten or more point this season, and also added four boards, two assists, and a steal. Freshman Amber Sue Udelhoven joined Dorman in matching a career-best of 14 points. The native of Potosi, Wisconsin, sank 2 of 4 attempts from long range as part of a 4 for 14 effort on the day. Udelhoven also converted 4 of 5 free throws, including all three after being fouled on a long-range shot.

Freshman Hailey Kaenel registered her best game of the season with a career-best 11 points as the Montello, Wisconsin, product went 5 for 8 from the field with a three-pointer. The 5'7" guard, who has made a shot from outside the arc in four of the last five games, also beat the third quarter buzzer with a layup off a well-timed pass from sophomore guard Mrylena Stewart. Stewart, a former Madison Memorial High School athlete, racked up a career-high nine assists.



For the first time this season, Madison College reach double-digits in made three-pointers as they knocked down 10 of 23 attempts, with the resulting 43.5% ranking as their second-highest long-range percentage this season. The WolfPack's 33 total field goals is also a season-high. The home team claimed a 53-32 advantage in rebounds, including 23 offensive boards, and also netted a 33-8 lead in bench scoring.

Madison College (7-4) was scheduled to host UW-Washington County on Tuesday, December 10, however, that game has been canceled due to a lack of players for the Wildcats. The WolfPack will travel to UW-Richland on Friday, December 13 to continue a long-standing rivalry with the Roadrunners. Madison College earned a 76-37 victory at home last season to take a 52-6 lead in the all-time series, while also increasing their current win streak in the head-to-head matchups to 13 straight. Tip off in Richland Center, Wisconsin, is set for 5:30 p.m.
