MALTA, ILL. - The final non-conference game of the 2018-19 regular season resulted in the best all-around performance for the Madison College men's basketball team as they defeated Region IV foe Kishwaukee College by a 94-85 final on Saturday. The WolfPack, who now boast a season-high three-game win streak, saw three players score more than 20 points to account for 75% of the team's offense, while the entire committed a season-low five turnovers. The fourth consecutive win over the Kougars also ends the non-conference portion of the regular season schedule with a .500 record.
Madison College opened with an 8-2 run to take control of the game early, but after the lead dwindled to just one midway through the first half, the 'Pack surged to a 33-21 on the basis of a 14-3 burst. The run opened with back-to-back 3's from
Nathaniel Buss, followed by five straight points by
Adam Anhold, and was capped by
Earl Lewis' first career three-pointer. Late in the half the differential swelled to 17 points with a seven-point swing by the visiting team.
The WolfPack remained hot into the second half, making 7 of 11 shots as part of a 16-4 run to create the largest lead of the night at 65-40 with less than 14 minutes remaining. Kishwaukee (3-11) continued to fight and put together a 31-15 surge that brought the WolfPack lead into single digits. A Kougars triple made it a five-point contest with one minute and 20 second to play, however, Madison College tallied eight of the last 12 points to close out the win.
