BOMBS AWAY: WolfPack hit 15 3's to begin N4C play with win

Win streak stretches to four as 'Pack passes century mark for first time

MADISON, WISC. -  The Madison College men's basketball team hit a season-high 15 three-pointers en route to the biggest scoring output of the season in a 105-85 defeat of Joliet Junior College to open the North Central Community College Conference slate on Thursday night at H. Douglas Redsten Gymnasium. The balanced offense saw five players score in double figures and seven different players connect from long range as the WolfPack pushed their season-best win streak to four consecutive games, while also snapping a three-game losing streak against the Wolves.

Madison College found the hot touch beyond the arc right away as sophomores and Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, natives Bryce Moore and Sean Suchomel each connected on a three to open the game. It triggered a 20-6 run that would carry the WolfPack to the win. DeAngelo Jones, another former Sun Prairie Cardinal, came off the bench to bury two triples in the span of 75 seconds, adding to the nine makes from outside the arc in the opening half. The home team's advantage grew to 25 at 40-15 with a little more than eight minutes to play, however, Joliet Junior College (3-12, 0-1) found a hot streak of their own with six 3's to trim the differential to 13. Leading by 18 at the half, the team's played even basketball over the final 20 minutes with the advantage rising and falling between 16 and 24 all the way to the final horn.

The WolfPack finished 15 of 30 (50%) from long range and 40 of 72 (55.6% overall, just narrowly missing their season-high shooting percentage. The Wolves shot 46.2% (30-65) and drained 14 of 28 (50%) three-pointers in the high-scoring affair. The home team also owned a 47-28 advantage in total rebounds, a 12-3 edge in second chance points, and a 38-24 margin in points in the paint.

Freshman forward Adam Anhold registered his third double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds to lead the team in both categories. The former Janesville Craig High School standout was 6 for 9 shooting with one triple and 6 of 8 free throws. Anhold leads the team with season averages of 17.2 points and 7.3 rebounds. His 19 points snapped a five-game streak with 20 or more.

Suchomel made two 3's and was 7 of 11 from the floor to reach 16 points, while also adding nine rebounds and four assists. Alex Easterday, a second year forward, had 15 points on 6 of 11 shooting with two makes from distance and five rebounds. Jalen Addison tallied 12 points off the bench with a pair of three-pointers, and Jones posted a career-best 11 points thanks to three treys. Moore also converted three times beyond the arc, while freshman Earl Lewis contribute two of his own. Nathaniel Buss, who leads the team in three-point shooting on the season, went 0 for 4, but did distribute eight assists to match a career high.
