WolfPack get stormed over in loss to rival MATC-Milwaukee

Madison College allows more than 110 points for a second straight game

MILWAUKEE, WISC. - Four days after surrendering the most points in a game in seven years, the Madison College men's basketball dug even deeper into the history books with a 119-98 loss at in-state rival Milwaukee Area Technical College, marking the most points allowed since the 1995-96. Wednesday's loss to the Stormers, ranked #18 in the NJCAA Division II Poll after moving up a division following last season, was the second consecutive setback in North Central Community College Conference play and ended a four-game win streak for the WolfPack in the head-to-head series. Madison College still owns a 64-49 lead in the series that dates back more than 50 years.

Milwaukee Area Technical College (19-3, 6-1) took control of the game early with a 25-12 run before the competition leveled off and teams played even basketball for the remaining ten minutes before the WolfPack took a 50-38 deficit into halftime. The second half saw both teams explode on the offensive end with Madison College scoring 60 points, while the Stormers poured in 69. The 'Pack converted 46% of their shots, going 35 for 76 with an 12 for 21 (57%) effort from beyond the arc. The home team was slightly better with a 46 for 80 (57%) performance overall and a 10 of 20 (50%) night from long range. MATC-Milwaukee also made one more free throw on four fewer attempts, and took advantage of 18 Madison turnovers to own a 22-15 edge in points off turnovers.

Freshman Adam Anhold scored a team-high 26 points on 10 of 22 shooting overall and a 6 for 8 showing at the free throw line. The transfer from NCAA Bemidji State University now boasts eight games of 20 or more points this season, with all eight coming over the last dozen games. Anhold also snagged a team-leading nine rebounds and two blocks.

Sophomore Nathaniel Buss made 4 of 5 three-pointers en route to 16 points. The Verona, Wisconsin, native has made nine of his last 13 (69%) from three-point territory after going 5 for 30 (16%) in the previous four outings. Buss also paced the offense with five assists

Freshman Earl Lewis and Mark Simmons scored 14 and 10 points, respectively, off the bench, with Lewis establishing a new season-high with his first double-digit scoring effort. The former Madison East High School athlete made 6 of 9 shots and two triples, while Simmons, from O'Fallon, Missouri, has scored ten points in back-to-back games.

The last time Madison College allowed 119 points was in a 130-74 road loss to Kishwaukee College on December 14, 1995.
