MADISON, WISC. - For fans of offensive basketball, Saturday's North Central Community College Conference game provided that and more as Madison College downed Wilbur Wright College by a 122-93 final inside
H. Douglas Redsten Gymnasium. Sophomore
Jalen Addison poured in a career-best 43 points to post the second-highest single-game points total in program history and help the WolfPack score the most points in a game in over a decade. The win is their second straight and sixth in the last seven games, while also extending the Madison College lead over the Rams in the all-time series to 15-4.
The WolfPack nearly shot 60% for the game going 49 for 83 for their most efficient outing of the season, which included a 15 for 35 (41%) effort from beyond the arc that matches the most triples made in a single game this year. Playing with only five players, Wilbur Wright College (8-11, 1-2) didn't back down and used 15 three-pointers of their own to try and keep pace. However, Madison College's 122 points is the most in a game since the WolfPack posted 130 points against UW-Rock County on December 9, 2008. It's the second time this season - and within the last four games - that the 'Pack has passed the century mark.Â
Addison also put himself among the top in efficiency with his 16 for 20 performance overall and a career-best 8 of 11 final count from long range, to go along with three free throws. The 43 points is the second-best scoring game in school history after Chad Peterson (Marshall, WI) racked up 52 points on January 20, 1995, against Gogebic Community College. Peterson is also one of four players to have tallied 42 points in a game for Madison College. His 16 made field goals is the third most in program history, while his three-point total matches Peterson and
Jezzriah Burton from last February for the most in a game. The Milwaukee, Wisconsin, native and transfer from Parkland College had a previous personal best of 30 points against St. Cloud Technical College back in November, and has scored in double-figures in 14 of 16 games this season.
Trailing by one and just a few minutes into the game, the WolfPack took control with a 12-0 run and eventually grew the differential to as high as 29 points following 3's by Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, products
Bryce Moore and
DeAngelo Jones. The 'Pack owned a 65-42 edge at the half, and both teams continued to push the ball up-and-down the floor in the second half. Early in the half Addison scored nine consecutive points to help the lead back to 29, and then traded long range bombs with the Rams' Antonio Newman that stretched the advantage to a game-high 34 points. Addison would finish with 26 points in the second half. Wilbur Wright's scoring ability kept the game interesting as a 10-0 swing with a little more than eight minutes remaining cut the scored to 94-76, but the home team put any doubts to bed with a 28-17 closing stretch.
All five Madison College starters scored in double-figures. Second year guard/forward
Alex Easterday used a pair of three-pointers and a 7 for 11 afternoon to scored 17 points. Coming off a season-high 23 points on Wednesday, the former Elkhorn High School athlete has reached ten or more points in four straight games. Freshman forward
Adam Anhold finished with 16 points and nine rebounds as the Janesville, Wisconsin, native is 19 for 21 (90%) over his last two games. Sophomore guards
Nathaniel Buss and
Sean Suchomel went for 15 and 11 points, respectively, while Buss also grabbed a career-best ten rebounds for his first-career double-double and Suchomel dished out a ten assists to match a career-best in his first-ever double-double.
The WolfPack is averaging 88.2 points per game this season, but have averaged 113.8 points over the past six outings.
