Second half run gives WolfPack low-scoring victory, pushes win streak to three

'Pack takes advantage of DuPage turnovers to begin long road trip on right foot

GLEN ELLYN, ILL. - One game after scoring the program's most points in a decade - and following seven straight games with at least 88 points - the Madison College men's basketball team had to find a different way to win on Wednesday at the College of DuPage, which they did in a 59-52 victory that opened a four-game road swing in the North Central Community College Conference. The WolfPack's second-lowest scoring output of the season featured a 23-5 edge in points off turnovers, as the visiting team took advantage of 32 miscues by the Chaparrals. The win marks the seventh consecutive for the 'Pack against DuPage, putting Madison College ahead by a 14-10 count in the all-time series.

The College of DuPage (2-14, 1-4) built an early double-digit lead thanks to a 13-3 run midway through the first half, however, an Alex Easterday three-pointer with less than eight minutes remaining triggered an 17-7 surge to close the first with the score even at 25. The WolfPack carried the momentum into the second half and opened with an 11-2 push that earned a nine-point lead. The host Chaparrals answered and with six minutes and 45 seconds left to play the score was tied 47-47. Having just checked in off the bench, freshman DeAngelo Jones buried a jumper that sparked another closing run, this one by a 12-5 tally, to finish off the win.

Sophomore Jalen Addison, a transfer guard from Parkland College, paced the WolfPack with 23 points as he made all ten of his shots from inside the arc, to go along with three free throws. The Milwaukee, Wisconsin, native also grabbed a team-high six rebounds and blocked a game-high two shots.

Fellow second year guard Nathaniel Buss was the only other double-digit scorer with ten points. The former Verona High School standout matched Sean Suchomel for the team lead with three assists. Suchomel, who tallied nine points, matched a season-high with six steals.

Madison College finished the game 22 of 62 (35%) overall for it's lowest shooting percentage since the second game of the season. The team's three made three-pointers is tied for the fewest in a game in 2018-19. By comparison, DuPage was 19 of 50 (38%) from the floor and also made just three shots from long range.
