MADISON, WISC. - Sophomore
Connor Fedders was untouchable in his start Sunday, April 29 against NCAA Division III Rockford University (IL) JV at
Robin Roberts Field, leading the Madison College baseball team to a resounding 21-0 victory in seven innings. The run total surpasses the previous season-high by five, and is the first time the WolfPack has reached the 20-run plateau since a 20-5 victory over eventual NJCAA Division II national champion Kankakee Community College in the 2017 NJCAA Region IV DII Championship Series.
Fedders, a second year righthander from Franksville, Wisconsin, retired all 15 batters faced through the first five innings of the game. During that time, he recorded a career-best nine strikeouts, four ground ball outs, and two fly outs to improve to 2-1 on the season. Freshman
Kevin Hussey entered the game to start the sixth inning and allowed a bunt single to the leadoff hitter, ending the WolfPack's bid for a perfect game or a no-hitter. The bunt single, however, would be the only hit allowed by Madison College (24-15) pitching in the seven-inning win. Hussey, a product of Columbus, Wisconsin, struck out two batters in his two innings on the hill.
The pitcher's had plenty of run support, thanks to the WolfPack's aggressive bats and the Regents' struggles in the field. Leading 5-0 after three innings, the 'Pack put up four runs in the fourth and fifth innings before capping the game with eight runs in the sixth. In all, they finished with 14 hits, including four for extra bases, took eight walks, stole six bases, and benefited from six Rockford errors.
Freshman and Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, native
Marquis Reuter was 3 for 5 with three runs scored and one batted in. Sophomore outfielder
Caleb Hurt had two hits, a team-best three RBI, and one run scored.
Lucas Trebian, a freshman from Madison, Wisconsin, also posted two hits, with three runs scored and one driven in. And
Walker Jenkins, also from Sun Prairie, went 1 for 2 with three walks, a team-high four runs scored, and one RBI.
