ENID, OKLA. - Madison College fell behind early and made a comeback again in their second
NJCAA Division II World Series game. This time, despite an eleven to six hit advantage and two errors by Parkland, WolfPack pitching woes proved too costly and the Pack' fell 9-6 to the #2 seed, Parkland College Cobras.
The WolfPack fell behind 3-0 after the first inning as starter
Nate Brown struggled with three walks, one hit batter, one wild pitch, and two hits allowed. Brown would then settle in and pitch well over the next four innings, striking out eight and allowing just one more hit. The WolfPack scored runs in both the third and fourth innings before taking the lead in the sixth with three runs on four hits. The Cobras capitalized on inconsistent Madison College pitching in the bottom of the sixth and seventh, scoring three runs in each inning to put the game out of reach. In those two innings, WolfPack pitchers gave up three hits, six walks, one balk, one wild pitch, and two hit batters. Madison College put runners on base and threatened in the top of the ninth, scoring a single run on a wild pitch, but that was as close as they got, losing 9-6.
The WolfPack outhit the Cobras eleven to six with four Madison College players collecting multiple hits;
Walker Jenkins who was 2 for 4 with two RBI, and teammates
Jerry LaSaint,
Nathan Aide, and
Garrett McGraw were all 2 for 5. LaSaint and McGraw each had a RBI, while McGraw had a double.
Cam Cratic also had an RBI for the Pack'.
Righthander
Jake Kopp entered the game in relief in the sixth. Kopp (3-2) received the loss, pitching one and two-thirds.
Jon-Anthony Caban and
