WolfPack's World Series run ends with loss to Scottsdale CC

Madison College baseball fell to Scottsdale, 4-2, in elimination game

ENID, OKLA. - Madison College baseball's NJCAA Division II World Series run came to an end on Tuesday night as the #6 WolfPack lost 4-2 to #7 Scottsdale Community College (AZ). The 'Pack went 1-2 in their eighth national tournament appearance and earned a top five finish in the nation.

Scottsdale was up 3-0 before the WolfPack answered with a run in the bottom of the sixth on a Jarrett Scheelk single. The 'Pack got as close as 3-2 in the eighth inning before the Fighting Artichokes scored a run in the ninth and got a 1-2-3 bottom half to seal the win.

Jarrett Scheelk, Jerry LaSaint, and Walker Jenkins all had two hits for the 'Pack, with Scheelk also posting two RBI.

Sophomore righthander Tyler Strzelczyk started the game and pitched five innings, striking out two, walking one, and surrendering two earned runs. Brandon Komar came in the game in relief to toss 3 1/3 innings, striking out two, walking three, and giving up the other two earned runs. Matt Hamilton pitched two-thirds of the ninth inning, getting both batters to line out. Strzelczyk (2-4) received the loss.

Sophomore Logan Michaels was named to the 2018 NJCAA Division II World Series All-Tournament Team. The DeForest, Wisconsin, native and University of Virginia commit batted .533 with eight hits in 15 at-bats, four runs batted in, four runs scored, a double, and a home run in the WolfPack's three games.

Madison College finished the season with a 35-22 overall record and a fifth place World Series finish.
