Madison College outscores Hawks 25-1, extends win streak to 12 against N4C foe

PALATINE, ILL. - The Madison College baseball put all phases of the game together with a resounding sweep of Harper College in North Central Community College Conference action on Saturday. The WolfPack, whose four-game win streak was snapped Thursday by defending national champion Kankakee Community College, regained its winning formula with a 10-1 victory in the opener and a 15-0 shutout in the nightcap. Pitchers Jake Kopp and Kevin Hussey combined for a five-inning no-hitter in the finale, marking the program's eighth no-no and the first since Brandon Parr accomplished the feat during the 2016 season.

Game #1: Madison College 10, Harper College 1 (7 innings)

Madison College scored in each of the first three innings to pull away early from the Hawks. Nick Gile opened the scoring with a two-run double in the first, which was followed in the next at-bat by a Nathan Aide home run to left to make it 4-0. The long ball was the first career homer for the Franklin, Wisconsin, native. In the second, Logan Michaels doubled home Cam Cratic, and in the third, Jarrett Scheelk scored on a single to left by Marquis Reuter for a 6-0 advantage. The 'Pack made it 8-1 in the fifth when Scheelk went yard for the fourth time this season with a two-run poke over the fence in left, doing so again after a Aide base hit. The scoring ended in the seventh with a RBI double from Jon-Anthony Caban and Jordan Olson's sacrifice fly.

Caban finished the game a perfect 4 for 4 to establish a new career-high for hits, while driving in one run and scoring another. The freshman trio of Gile, Aide, and Scheelk all posted two hits games with two RBI each as the number four through seven hitters combined to go 10 for 15 with seven runs scored and seven driven in. Scheelk, from Green Bay, Wisconsin, scored a team-best three runs. Of the WolfPack's 13 hits, six went for extra bases.

Sophomore Nate Brown (1-3) earned his first win of the season after allowing one unearned run and three hits over six innings. The University of Florida transfer struck out seven batters and walked two. Freshman Trentin Uttech threw a perfect seventh inning.
