PLYMOUTH, WISC. - In their only other prior five set matches, the Madison College women's volleyball team had come up short with narrow setbacks to Rock Valley College and Clarke University (IA) JV. Fast forward one week and the WolfPack, who joined the
NJCAA Division III Poll at #10 this week, now own a five-set win after escaping NCAA Division III Lakeland University (WI) JV with a 26-24, 24-26, 25-19, 16-25, 15-12 decision on Wednesday night. It's the third straight win for the 'Pack, who also own a 4-0 all-time lead over the Muskies.
Madison College struggled with their attack, amassing 44 kills on a .099 attack percentage. Helping in the winning effort were 11 service aces and seven blocks, as well as 70 digs,
Setter
Olivia Darkow registered 34 assists in running the offense, her 16th match with at least 30 assists. The 5'5" sophomore also tallied a team-high four aces, to go along with nine digs and two kills.
Outside Hitter
Paige Hostetler continued her run of double-double performances with five in the last six matches by reaching 19 kills and a career-high 19 digs. The all-conference and all-region player from 2017 finished with a .129 attack percentage and three aces.
Tianna Sackett also reached double-digit kills with ten and hit .073. Freshman
Isabella Carrillo nearly matched Sackett, collecting nine kills and hitting .160. Both Sackett and Carrillo enjoyed three solo blocks.
Maddie Scalissi picked up 28 digs for top honors in that category.
