GLEN ELLYN, ILL. - Behind a seven-point effort from one of its sophomore captains, the Madison College women's soccer team dispensed of the College of DuPage with a 5-1 win in North Central Community College Conference play on Wednesday.
Peyton Trapino scored three goals and posted one assist to keep the
#9-ranked WolfPack undefeated in conference play going into a key match next week. The victory is also the fourth straight over the Chaparrals, marking the second consecutive regular season sweep for the 'Pack.
The game's first score came in the 7' with freshmen
Mary Raemisch and
Meghan Petroski working together to find the back of the net. Petroski set up the Lodi, Wisconsin, native for her eighth goal of the season and first in five games. Trapino began her scoring surge by also working off a Petroski pass to make it 2-0 in the 23'. Four minutes later, the College of DuPage (5-6, 4-5) registered its lone goal against first year goalkeeper
Kelly Kubicek to make it 2-1 into halftime.
Madison College pulled away in the second half with a 49' goal from
Esther Noriega on an assist by Trapino. The scoring strike is Noriega's sixth, while the assist pushed Trapino to 22 on the year. The second year midfielder from DeForest, Wisconsin, then completed her first career hat trick with goals in the 67' and 84'. The first scoring strike was courtesy of a Raemisch assist, while the second was unassisted. Trapino now boasts 13 goals, sitting one back of all-time scoring leader
Britt Schumann for the team lead.
The WolfPack attack racked up a 16-9 edge in total shots and a 10-6 advantage in shots on goal. Kubicek, who earlier in the day was named the
NJCAA Division III Women's Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week, was credited with four saves and allowed just her sixth goal of the year.

Madison College (10-1, 8-0) will put its perfect N4C record on the line on Wednesday, October 10 against Joliet Junior College (10-2, 7-1). The Wolves are receiving votes in the latest NJCAA DIII Poll and remain a game back in the standings after the two programs shared the league crown a season ago. The WolfPack defeated JJC with an
