#2 WolfPack volleyball falls to #1 Harper in four sets

Loss marks fourth straight to defending national champs

MADISON, WISC. - For the fourth consecutive meeting, the Madison College volleyball team squared off with Harper College as the #2 and #1 ranked teams, respectively, in the NJCAA Division III Poll. Harper set the tone early by winning the first two sets 25-16 and 25-18, before the WolfPack showed signs of life in front of the home crowd in the third set. Madison went on to win it 25-18, before the Hawks won the pivotal fourth set in dramatic fashion, 25-22, to claim a key early season victory in the North Central Community College Conference.

The 3-1 match win for Harper was statistically closer than the final score indicated, as the 'Pack finished ahead or within three in several categories, except for blocks. Harper finished the match with 12 blocks to limit Madison's attack percentage to .075, while the 'Pack only recorded two blocks.

Sophomore Megan Corcoran led the team in kills with 13, however she was limited to a .060 attack percentage. She did add 17 digs, two aces, and a block in the loss. The trio of Paige Hostetler, Reagan Goupil, and Samantha Jacobsen tailed Corcoran in the category with 10, 9, and 8 kills, respectively. The trio also all finished with attack percentages north of .320.

Keely Brown and Olivia Darkow once again split the role of setter, as Brown finished with 21 assists and Darkow recorded 13. Brown also finished tops on the team with three service aces.

Maddie Scalissi's 21 digs paced the team, and her double-digit digs total wasn't alone, as the WolfPack finished with five players with ten or more in the category. Kendra Nicolay (18), Corcoran (17), Darkow (16), and Brown (10) rounded out the group.
