Losing streak grows to three for WolfPack men in 3-1 loss at #6 Triton

Madison College now 1-4 since opening season with four straight wins

RIVER GROVE, ILL. - In desperate need of a win, the Madison College men's soccer team lost 3-1 at #6 Triton College, extending their losing streak to three straight matches. After starting the season 4-0, the WolfPack have dropped four of their last five matches. Monday's loss gives the Trojans a regular season sweep of the 'Pack for the first time since 2013 and extends their lead in the all-time series to 17-6.

Madison College fell behind early when Triton College (10-0, 6-0) freshman Patryk Szatko scored an unassisted goal in the 11', giving him four goals against the WolfPack on the year. The deficit grew to 2-0 just before the half with another Trojans goal in the 44'.

The WolfPack picked up their game in the second half and pulled to within a goal. Sophomore Toby Andrews took a pass from freshman Daniel Gutierrez and scored a 53' goal. Andrews, an All-American last season, has scored a goal in three straight games and has a team-best eight on the season. Gutierrez, a former Madison La Follette athlete and native of Morona Santiago, Ecuador, tallied his second assist of the year and first since the season opener on August 22.

Unfortunately, the Madison College scoring went dry for the remainder of the match, while Triton added a third goal in the 64' to regain a two-goal edge.

The intense game featured 11 yellow cards and two red cards, as well as 35 combined fouls. The Trojans attempted more shots overall (13-5) than the 'Pack, and held the visitors to a single shot on goal, compared to ten for the North Central Community College Conference frontrunners.

WolfPack goalkeeper Blake Dehn had seven saves in the match. He has allowed 14 goals and made 25 saves in the past five games.
