ROCHESTER, MINN. - Playing their third true road game of the season, the Madison College women's basketball team was unable to keep pace with Rochester Community & Technical College in a 73-58 setback on Tuesday night. The #9 WolfPack never led in the game as the Yellowjackets controlled the action from start-to-finish, growing their advantage to as much as 18 en route to 21st win in the 30th all-time meeting between the two programs.
It took just over five minutes for Rochester (3-0) to build a double-digit lead as part of a 25-15 first quarter. An 11-2 run midway through the second quarter brought the WolfPack within 29-26 with 4:50 left in the half, and it was still a three-point differential after
Peyton Trapino inside jumper made it 34-31 with 2:39 remaining before RCTC took a five-point edge into halftime. A barrage of scoring to open the second half contributed to the Yellowjackets again going up by double-figures, reaching 15 points as the two teams combined for 42 points in the quarter. Madison College was unable to form any sort of fourth quarter comeback.
Rochester proved to be the better rebounding team by a 46-33 margin, and turned 16 offensive rebounds into a 15-6 lead in second chance points. Both team committed 21 turnovers, however, the Yellowjackets enjoyed a 26-16 advantage in points off turnovers. The WolfPack made two of their 13 three-point tries, and finished 10-for-21 (47.6%) at the free throw line.
Two players scored in double-figures for Madison College, with sophomore guard
Peyton Trapino reaching a season-high 18 points. The all-conference guard was 8-of-15 from the floor with a pair of free throws, and led the team with three assists and three steals. Freshman forward
Abby Meehan added a career-best ten points with 5-of-9 shooting and a team-high five rebounds. Six other players scored for the WolfPack, including
Megan Corcoran's three point effort. The sophomore, who played just 11 minutes, produced her lowest point total of the season on 1-of-3 shooting overall after averaging better than 23 points through the first six games of the year.

Madison College (3-4) returns to the floor after the Thanksgiving break with an in-state showdown against NJCAA Division II Bryant & Stratton College (6-3) on Thursday, November 30. The Bobcats are in their second year of existence and lost 85-62 to the WolfPack last year in Madison. The game will be held at
Bloechl Recreation Center on the Mount Mary University Campus in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Tip off is at 5:30 p.m.
