MADISON, WISC. - The sister duo of Tianna and
Tierra Sackett took over Wednesday's Madison College women's soccer match against the College of DuPage, accounting for two goals and two assists in a 3-1 win at
Irwin A. & Robert D. Goodman Pitch-East. The WolfPack swept a rare back-to-back, home-and-home series with the Chaparrals, including a
5-0 victory on Sunday, to mark the first ever wins over COD in the all-time series. Madison College continues their best start in program history with a tenth consecutive match without a loss, while also maintaining a slim lead over Joliet Junior College for first place in the North Central Community College Conference.
Motivated by the lopsided decision three days earlier, the College of DuPage (7-8-1, 4-5-1) grabbed an early lead on the road, beating goalkeeper
Brandie Gospodarek in the 11' on an unassisted goal. It is just the sixth goal allowed this season for the sophomore 'keeper.
Madison College scored the equalizer before the first half ended as the Tianna Sackett set up
Tierra Sackett for her third goal of the year in the 39'.
In the second half, Tianna again provided a perfect pass, this time to fellow freshman
Esther Noriega for the game-winner. The 58' tally marked the eighth goal for Noriega and her second game-winner of the year. For Sackett, her back-to-back assists give her three on the year, and ended a five-match point drought.
However, the midfielder/defender wasn't finished, adding her first career goal in the 60' minute to provide the WolfPack some breathing room with a two-goal cushion. The twins from West Salem, Wisconsin, combined for six points in the match, led by a career-best four points for Tianna.
Madison College controlled a majority of the action, putting constant pressure on the Chaparrals defense with 24 total shots, 17 of which were on goal. Meanwhile, the WolfPack "D" was only challenged by seven total shots and five on goal from the DuPage attack. Tianna Sackett attempted the most of each for the 'Pack with six shots overall and five on goal. Freshman striker
Britt Schumann, who broke the program's single-season goals record in Sunday's defeat of COD, fired five total shots and three on goal. Without netting a goal, she remains three goals shy of tying the program's all-time goals scoring record. The DeForest, Wisconsin, native is also one point shy of tying the all-time points mark.
