ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, ILL. - For the fifth consecutive time, the Madison College volleyball team lost to Harper College, 3-1, in a matchup pitting the nation's two top ranked teams. The #2 WolfPack fell 25-15, 25-17, 14-25, and 25-13 to the #1 Hawks, who claimed their second consecutive North Central Community College Conference championship with the win.
Madison College registered 37 kills and hit at a .174 efficiency in the setback, led by freshman middle blocker
Paige Hostetler with 11 kills. The Green Bay, Wisconsin, native posted a .250 attack percentage with two error on 36 attempts. It's Hostetler's eighth double-digit kills match of the season and her sixth such match in the last nine played.
Sophomore transfers
Lori Sanders and
Reagan Goupil added nine and seven kills, respectively, with Goupil hitting a team-best .700 with zero errors in ten attempts. Sanders also finished with a team-leading four blocks.
Second year setter
Keely Brown tallied 32 assists, giving the Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, native her second match of the season with more than 30.
Outside hitter
Megan Corcoran paced Madison College in digs for the first time in her career, finishing with 19. Brown and
Maddie Scalissi each collected ten digs, giving Brown her 13th double-double this year.
Harper College (29-5, 11-0) clinched the title with a two-game lead over the 'Pack and just one match remaining. The defending national champs are now 16-14 in the all-time series, with wins in seven of the last eight matches.

Madison College (20-6, 9-2) will put the finishing touches on the 2017 regular season Thursday, October 19 with a road match at rival Rock Valley College. The WolfPack currently own a 14-match win streak dating back to 2012 against the Golden Eagles, who still lead the all-time series 33-24-1. Last month the 'Pack rallied from down two-sets-to-none to
defeat RVC in five sets. First serve in Rockford, Illinois, will be at 6:00 p.m.
