CONFERENCE CHAMPS: Scoreless draw earns #4 WolfPack first N4C title in program history

Madison College shares league crown despite zero goals scored for first time all season

MADISON, WISC. - The result of the match - mixed with some wet weather - dampened the celebration after the Madison College women's soccer team earned a share of the North Central Community College Conference championship for the first time in program history following Friday's 0-0 draw with Triton College at Irwin A. & Robert D. Goodman Pitch-East. The scoreless affair included two sudden-victory overtime periods, and a significant advantage in every single offensive team category for the #4 WolfPack, before being just enough to drop Madison College into a tie atop the league standings with #10 Joliet Junior College.

Madison College finishes it's record-setting regular season with an 11-1-2 record, while ending N4C play at 9-1-2. Joliet Junior College posted a 10-2 record in conference matches, giving both teams an equal .833 winning percentage and a share of the conference crown. The two teams split a pair of matches during the regular season, with the home team winning each match.

The WolfPack dominated the Trojans throughout the first 90 minutes, keeping a significant majority of the action on the offensive end of the field. Madison College posted 23 total shots and 14 shots on goal, as well as 11 corner kicks, during regulation, but was unable to find the back of the net. The strategies stayed the same throughout the two overtime periods, with the 'Pack adding six total shots and four on goal.

The zero shots allowed also mark a program first, and gives goalkeeper Brandie Gospodarek her fifth shutout of the season.

Freshman Esther Noriega had a team-high nine shots attempted and put six on goal. Abby Meehan, Peyton Trapino, and Tianna Sackett each had three shots on goal.

Prior to the game, the WolfPack honored eight members of the team for Sophomore Day, as the group played their final regular season home match.
