GLEN ELLYN, ILL. - Madison College has never lost to the College of DuPage.
The statement continues to hold true after the first of two North Central Community College Conference meetings, won in four sets by the WolfPack on Tuesday, September 6 by scores of 21-25, 25-22, 25-16, and 25-22. The win marks the 22nd win in 22 all-time meetings between the two programs, including a 13-0 mark in league competition and a 10-0 on the Chaparrals' home floor.
The home team got the better of the top-ranked WolfPack in the opening set, holding Madison College to a .086 attack percentage. That changed drastically over the next three sets as the 'Pack sandwiched a .242 percentage in between two well above .300.
Three players reached double-figures for kills, led by
Andrea Bauer's 16 on .400 hitting.
TeAnn Harms tallied 13 kills and
Keifer Zimmerman had 11. First year
Natasha Swiggum just missed joining that group, ending her night with nine kills.
Those numbers came as a direct result of setter
Taylor Genthe's career-best night. The sophomore from River Valley, Wisconsin, registered 49 in just her seventh match since moving over from the middle blocker spot.
Defensively, freshman
Samantha Jacobsen denied three DuPage attacks, while four players each amassed double-digit digs:
Kaitlin Mooney (22), Bauer (20),
Keifer Zimmerman (19), and Genthe (12).
