Men’s Soccer Remains Unbeaten after 5-2 Win

ROCKFORD, ILL. - In their second straight North Central Community College Conference (N4C) game, the Madison College WolfPack easily defeated the visiting Rock Valley College Golden Eagles 5-2. With the N4C win, the WolfPack improved to 3-0-1 and 2-0 in the N4C. They have outscored their opponents by nine goals through four games. The 3-0-1 start is the best in program history since the 2007 team was 4-0 after four games.

Christian Munoz got Madison on the board at the 3:48 mark with an assist from Jake Andrews. Almost 16 minutes later Jake Andrews got into the action himself with an unassisted goal 19:43 into the game that gave the WolfPack the early 2-0 lead. The Golden Eagles fought back with two consecutive first half goals, and the score was knotted up 2-2 at the half.

Six minutes into the second half Madison College's Ryan Henry broke the 2-2 with a goal at the 51:00 mark. Jose Barron provided the assist on Henry's goal. Munoz added his second goal of the day five minutes later with an assist from Ricardo Ramos, the WolfPack started to pull away with a 4-2 lead. Not to be upstaged, Jake Andrews also added his second goal with just under five minutes to play for the 5-2 lead, one that Rock Valley would never comeback from.

Goalkeeper Juan Martinez played another great game in net with eight saves and only two goals allowed. Rock Valley actually outshot the 'Pack 17-12 total and 10-8 in shots on goal, but Martinez was able to keep the Golden Eagles at bay.

The 3-0-1 WolfPack return to action this Wednesday at Warner Park Field #1 where they play host to the Joliet Junior College Wolves. The September 7 home games starts at 4:00 PM.
