MADISON, WISC. - For the second straight match, the Madison College women's soccer team found itself on the wrong side of a 1-0 outcome, falling to Harper College in a North Central Community College Conference contest Friday at Warner Park. After a 2-0 start to the season, the WolfPack has now lost four of its last five games, with three of the losses coming by a single goal.
Madison College (3-4, 2-4) opened with some good looks at the net, however, sophomores
Arianna Viscarra,
Katie Travis, and
Lindsay Kraemer were unsuccessful in putting the home team on the board first.
Harper College (3-1, 3-1) tallied the game's lone score in the 18th minute off the foot of Heily Ramirez. The goal led to the second win all-time for the Hawks against the 'Pack, evening the head-to-head series at 2-2-1.
Overall, the WolfPack was outshot by a 15-7 margin, including a 9-3 differential in shots on goal. Viscarra, a graduate of Middleton (WI) HS, was credited with the only three shots - and eventual saves - against the Harper goalkeeper.
Madison College goaltender
Brandie Gospodarek registered eight saves and a .889 save percentage.
After three consecutive home games against N4C opponents, the WolfPack hits the road for a non-league match against Illinois Valley Community College (1-7) on Tuesday, September 20 in Oglesby, Illinois. The Eagles are in their first year of existence (NJCAA DIII), marking Tuesday's match as the first ever between the two programs. Kick off is at 4:00 p.m.
