MADISON, WISC. - Playing in front of the home fans for the first time in 2016, the #1 Madison College women's volleyball team cruised to a three-set sweep of visiting Elgin Community College on Thursday night. The WolfPack won by a greater point differential in each set, taking the match with scores of 25-18, 25-17, and 25-10 to improve to 2-0 on the young season.
Sophomore
Andrea Bauer registered a match-high ten kills on 18 attack attempts, hitting .444 for the match. The Mukwonago, Wisconsin, native earned her first double double of the season as she finished with 11 digs. Bauer also led Madison College with three services aces and completed the only block of the night.
The trio of
Keifer Zimmerman,
Taylor Genthe, and
TeAnn Harms all tallied seven kills, helping the 'Pack to 40 total kills and a .277 team attack percentage. Much of the credit for the efficient offense goes to first year setter
Keely Brown as the former Sun Prairie (WI) Cardinal collected 35 assists.
Kaitlin Mooney grabbed team-high honors defensively with 15 digs.
Madison College will compete in its first tournament of the season when they compete in the Battle for the Dells at JustAGame Fieldhouse in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, on Saturday and Sunday. The WolfPack opens play against Lake Michigan College (MI/NJCAA Division II) at 1:30 p.m. on court #4 Saturday, followed by a 3:30 p.m. first serve opposite Iowa Central Community College (NJCAA DII. They will play two additional matches Sunday against Muskegon Community College at 1:30 p.m. and then a showdown with defending NJCAA Division III National Champion and #2 Rochester Community and Technical College at 3:30pm. Both matches Sunday will be contested on court #1.
