MADISON, WISC. - Seeking their first 2-0 start since 2013, the Madison College men's soccer team could only manage a 1-1 draw in their home opener against Waubonsee Community College on Saturday at Warner Park.
The visiting Chiefs tallied the first goal Diego Munoz slipped a shot past WolfPack goaltender
Juan Martinez in the ninth minute. The score remained 1-0 until just before halftime when
Toby Andrews set up sophomore
Christian Munoz for the equalizing goal in the 44th minute.
The second half saw Waubonsee put 11 shots on goal, however, Martinez was up for the challenge. The Verona Area (WI) HS product finished with five saves on the afternoon. Unfortunately, the Waubonsee goalie was equal to the task, facing five shots in the final half of play and not allowing a goal.
Madison College (1-1) will remain at home to being conference play on Wednesday, August 31 as they welcome North Central Community College Conference foe Harper College (1-1) to Warner Park for a 4:00 p.m. start.
