MADISON, WISC. - The April 14 home doubleheader against the Elgin Community College started off on the right note with a 6-0 win behind a no-hitter from
Brandon Parr, but the WolfPack couldn't hold on for the game two win as they fell 11-16 in the nightcap.

Game #1: Madison College 6, Elgin Community College 0
Starting pitcher
Brandon Parr went the distance and recorded the first no-hitter for the WolfPack since 2011 in the 6-0 victory. Parr did walk four and hit two batters in the in no-no, but he also struckout five in the win. Parr improved to 4-1 on the season, and extended the WolfPack winning streak two three games.

Carson Carmody led the team at the plate with two hits in the six run win. He finished 2-for-3 with a double, a RBI, and a run scored. Five others recorded hits in the game, including
Nick Kanavas,
Ryan Makuski,
Kian O'Brien,
Zach Bailey, and
Tanner Van De Hey. Makuski led the team with two RBI, and both O'Bien and Van De Hey scored two runs.

Game #2: Elgin Community College 16, Madison College 11
Game two of the doubleheader was quite the opposite of the opener, as the two teams combined for 27 runs, 31 hits, and the opposing offenses were aided by six errors in the slugfest. Elgin got the offense started in the first inning with three runs to set the tone for the game. The WolfPack countered in the bottom of the second with four runs to take the 4-3 lead, but that lead wouldn't last long. The Spartans plated four runs off their own to start the third inning, and the WolfPack answered with three runs in the bottom of the frame. Tied up at 7-7 entering the fourth inning, the two teams each scored a run over the next two inning to remain tied, before Elgin started to out distance the 'Pack in the top of the sixth inning. Elgin scored eight runs over the next two innings, including seven in the sixth, and the 'Pack could only muster three more in the hard fought five run loss.

Nick Kanavas and
Kian O'Brien both finished with three hits and a double in the loss, and four more added two hits. Kanavas ended the game 3-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored, and O'Brien finished 3-for-5 with two runs scored. Besides the double from Kanavas and O'Brien,
Chris Lund joined with a double of his own on his way to finish the day 2-for-5 at the plate with a RBI. The three others that joined
Chris Lund with two hits were
Simon Maurice,
Bryce Plate, and
Alex Mayer. Maurice finished 2-for-5 with a team high three RBI, Plate went 2-for-4 with two runs scored, and Mayer went 2-for-3 with a team high three runs scored and tied for the team high with three RBI. Mayer and Kanavas each added a stolen base in the five run loss.

As a team, the WolfPack used six pitchers, and all but
Dominick Golubiewski surrendered a run.
Peyton Durst, who started Elgin's seven run sixth inning, was saddled with the loss.

The 15-14 and #2 ranked WolfPack baseball team takes a quick break and looks to rebound with two N4C doubleheaders on their home field this weekend. The 'Pack hosts the NJCAA DI Triton College Trojans on Saturday, April 16. The first game of the conference doubleheader starts at 12:00 PM at Robin Roberts Field. Â Madison wraps-up the weekend with a doubleheader against the College of DuPage Chaparrals on Sunday, April 17. The first pitch of the Sunday doubleheader is also at 12:00 PM.
