The Madison College baseball team had their home opener moved up a week, and the team didn't disappoint the home crowd on Saturday, March 26. The WolfPack crushed the Harper College Hawks in the North Central Community College Conference (N4C) opening doubleheader, as the team rolled to 7-0 and 14-0 wins.
Game #1: Madison College 7, Harper College 0Â
Madison got on the board early in the opener with a run in the first inning, and then both offenses remained silent the next two innings. The WolfPack bats eventually came to life in front of the Robin Roberts Filed crowd, as they scored three runs in both the fourth and sixth innings on the way to a 7-0 win.

Bryce Plate was one of four WolfPack players to record two hits as he finished 2-for-3 at the dish with a team high three RBI, a run scored, and a triple.
Ryan Makuski,
Zach Bailey, and
Kian O'Brien were the others with two hits, and Makuski and Bailey both added double and a run scored. Bailey also recorded a RBI and O'Brien also scored once, while adding the WolfPacks' lone stolen base.
Trevor Tunison also provided a double, a run scored, and a RBI.

Brandon Parr picked up the start and the win, as he went the distance in the seven inning shutout. He only gave up four hits and three walks, while striking out seven on his way to improving to 2-1 on the season.
Game #2: Madison College 14, Harper College 0 (5 innings)Â
In game two, Madison scored a run in the first, and then the offense really came to life in the blowout win. The team scored four, six, and three runs in the next three innings, and WolfPack pitching staff silenced the Harper bats for the five inning win.

Chris Lund led the offense with a double, six RBI, and a run in his 3-for-4 day. Six other members off the 'Pack added singles, and the eight hits were enough for the team. They also were walked six times, and were aided by eight Harper errors on their way to scoring 11 runs. Besides his single,
Ryan Makuski recorded two RBI and two runs scored, and four others at scored at least two runs.
Kian O'Brien and
Simon Maurice both scored three times, and
Bryce Plate and
Tanner Van De Hey each scored twice.

Starting pitcher
Alec Haluzak picked up the win for Madison College, as the team improved to 7-8-1 and Haluzak improved to 3-0. Haluzak threw four innings, while scattering the only three Harper hits of the game. He also recorded three strikeouts. Relievers
Dominick Golubiewski and
Jake Kopp combined to throw the final inning of the game, and each pitcher picked up one strikeout.

The 7-8-1 WolfPack baseball team hits the road next Tuesday, as the team travels to River Grove, IL for another N4C doubleheader against the Triton College Trojans. The March 29 doubleheader starts at 2:00 PM.
