It may only be February on the calendar, but March Madness is ready to begin for the men's and women's basketball teams of Madison College as both will open
NJCAA Region IV Tournament play this week.
The WolfPack men hit the floor first with a quarterfinal game Wednesday in Glen Ellyn, Illinois at 7:00 p.m. After finishing the regular season with a 10-18 overall record and finishing sixth in the
North Central Community College Conference with a 4-10 league mark, Madison College earned the #5 seed opposite #4 College of DuPage (17-11, 5-9), who finished a spot ahead of the 'Pack in the N4C standings.
The two teams split their regular season series with the home team winning in each case. The Chaparrals earned a
69-67 come-from-behind win on January 9, while the WolfPack controlled most of a 63-58 victory on February 3. Madison College is currently on a season-long five-game losing skid, while DuPage has dropped two straight and seven of their last nine.
Wednesday's game will represent the first postseason matchup between the two schools. DuPage leads the all-time series 9-7, though the count is even at 7-7 since the Chaparrals and WolfPack became conference opponents in 2009-2010. The 'Pack is 2-5 against DuPage in true road games and has not won in Glen Ellyn since 2012.
The winner advances to Region IV semifinals against top-seeded Rock Valley (27-3, 11-3) at Alverno College in Milwaukee. The Golden Eagles have been ranked #1 in the
NJCAA Division III poll all year after finishing runner-up in the nation last year.

North Central Community College Conference earned the WolfPack a second place finish by Rock Valley College by game. Thus, Madison College is the second seed in Region IV - behind RVC - and has earned a bye into the tournament semifinals.
The WolfPack will play Friday at 1:00 p.m. at Milwaukee's Alverno College against third-seeded Joliet Junior College. Madison College swept the regular season series with the Wolves, earning wins of
53-47 and
56-46. The 'Pack has won five of the last seven against Joliet. This will be the third postseason meeting between the two programs, with each team earning a win in the prior two matchups.
