Women’s Basketball Wins Home Opener, Improves to 3-0

MADISON, WIS. - With two road wins to start the season, the #5 WolfPack had the chance to pick up a "W" at home against the Fox Valley Technical College Foxes on Wednesday night. Madison College didn't disappoint the Parent's Night crowd as they rolled to a 90-60 win, the third of new head coach Lois Heeren's tenure.

The 'Pack jumped out to a 50-34 lead at halftime and kept up their efficient offensive attack for the 30 point win. As a team, Madison shot 45.7 percent from the field on 37-for-81 shooting, including 8-of-18 beyond the arc. The WolfPack also dominated the Foxes in the paint with a 34 to 18 point advantage, as well as bench points (27 to 7).

Rachel Slaney once again led the way for the home team with 28 points on 11-of-14 shooting from the field. She just missed a double-double with eight rebounds, but was actually bested by teammate Mackenzie Ripp who hauled in nine boards. Slaney also knocked down two three-pointers and 4-of-5 free throws, along with a team-high four steals and three assists in a great all-around game.

Cheyanne Udelhoven (19) and Megan Corcoran (11) also reached double digit point totals, and freshman Peyton Trapino dished out a team-high six assists, while recording three steals and seven rebounds. Fellow guard Jamie Falk tied Trapino with six assists herself, to go along with three steals.

The 3-0 WolfPack travel to Coon Rapids, Minnesota, for the Anoka-Ramsey Community College Tournament on November 11 and 12. The team faces the host Anoka-Ramsey Golden Rams at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, before taking on the St. Cloud Technical College Cyclones at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Anoka-Ramsey is assisted by former WolfPack head coach Jessica Pelzel.
