MILWAUKEE, WISC. - For the second time this season the Madison College women's soccer team re-wrote the school record books in a win over in-state rival Milwaukee Area Technical College. The WolfPack's 9-0 win Wednesday matched last season's program-high win total of eight and saw another new name placed at the top of the list for most goals scored in a game. Improving to 8-5 overall and 5-5 in the North Central Community College Conference equals the eight wins from a season ago and surpasses the four conference victories in each of the programs first two seasons.
Sophomore
Lindsay Kraemer enjoyed the best night any player has had in a WolfPack uniform, netting a double hat trick of six goals. After
Arianna Viscarra opened the scoring in the 19th minute, Kraemer took over with four straight goals between the 35th and 52nd minutes to boost the Madison College lead to 5-0.
Viscarra tallied her second goal in the second half to temporarily halt the Kraemer scoring barrage, which picked up with two more goals in the 66th and 75th minutes. The Burlington, Wisconsin, native converted one more shot than teammate
Katie Travis did in the first meeting with the Stormers when she set a new single game record with five goals in the
14-0 win. Meanwhile, Travis now has a team-best 15 goals on the season, which is tied for the most in a season in program history with Elizabeth Conejo in 2014.
Travis, who still owns the record for points in a game with 15, contributed three assists. Viscarra and
Brandie Gospodarek each finished with two assists, and
Breanne Kreklow had one.
The WolfPack outshot MATC-Milwaukee by a 29-1 margin, and have outscored their I-94 rivals 23-0 in two matches this season.
Sophomore
Lindsay Hamilton made her return to the goaltender position, where she started 15 matches last year, and was credited with one save in earning the win. It's the second shutout of her collegiate career. Gospodarek, who had started the previous 12 games in goal, moved out to field and scored the game's final goal in the 90th minute.
Madison College plays it's penultimate game of the regular season on Friday, October 7 at the College of DuPage (7-4-3, 5-0-2,
RV) in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. The WolfPack dropped a
1-0 contest to the Chaparrals in mid-September and are still looking for their first win all-time in the head-to-head series after dropping the first seven encounters. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m.
