WolfPack women held scoreless at DuPage

Regular season finale Wednesday continues pursuit of historic win

GLEN ELLYN, ILL. - A program record ninth win in a season will have to wait another day or two as the Madison College women's soccer team fell a goal short against the College of DuPage with yet another 1-0 setback to the Chaparrals on Friday. The loss means the WolfPack, who matched a program best eight wins set in 2015 with a victory earlier in the week, will get one more try during the regular season to establish a new record. Friday's result is also the eighth straight loss to DuPage in the three years the programs have played each other.

Scoreless for the first 20-plus minutes, Madison College (8-6-0, 5-6-0) fell behind in the first half when the College of DuPage (11-5-3, 8-0-2, RV) found the back of the net on an Antoinette Zaffino goal in the 24th minute. The goal was the first allowed by a WolfPack goaltender in the last three games, snapping a streak of 220 consecutive scoreless minutes.

Madison College, unable to execute a shot on goal in the first half, was able to generate some offensive momentum early in the second half; however, a pair of shots by sophomore Lindsay Kraemer came up empty in the first two minutes of the half.

Freshman Brandie Gospodarek faced ten shots total and made five saves. The Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, native still owns a goals against average under 1.00, sitting at 0.91.

The WolfPack will close out the regular season and the North Central Community College schedule on Wednesday, October 12 at Harper College (6-4-1, 4-4-1). Madison College lost to the Hawks by a 1-0 final in Madison in mid-September, and the all-time series is square at two-wins-a-piece - they also earned a draw in a 2014 match. Kick off in Palatine, Illinois, is at 4:00 p.m.
