Season ends with second straight one-goal loss for WolfPack women

Madison College to begin postseason play next Tuesday

PALATINE, ILL. - Seeking some momentum to carry into the postseason, the Madison College women's soccer team fell by a 1-0 final for the second straight game, this time against Harper College in the regular season finale on Wednesday. And speaking of 1-0, that would prove to be the final score in both defeats at the hands of the Hawks for the WolfPack this season. The loss also means the 2016 team remains tied with the 2015 squad for the best record in program history with an 8-7-0 record overall, though coach Matt Schwartz and the 'Pack set a new program record with five wins (5-8-0) in North Central Community College Conference play.

The match against Harper College (9-4-1, 7-4-1) saw the WolfPack get out shot by an 18-3 margin, including an 11-1 differential in the first half. Part of that early barrage was a Julia Morales goal in the 34th minute against freshman goaltender Brandie Gospodarek, who was credited with eight saves on the day.

The three shots for Madison College came from Breanne Kreklow, Katie Travis, and Arianna Viscarra.

Constantly seeking that statement victory, the WolfPack posted a 0-6 mark against the top three teams in the N4C: Rock Valley College, College of DuPage, and Harper College. All but one of those contest was decided by a single goal.

Madison College will begin postseason play with the NJCAA Region IV Tournament Quarterfinals on Tuesday, October 18. The higher seeded team will host the match. Times, locations, and opponents will be announced later in the week.
