MADISON, WISC. - Playing in their final home match of the regular season, the Madison College women's volleyball team made sure it to end a seven-game homestand with a three-set sweep of visiting College of DuPage on Tuesday night at H. Douglas Redsten Gymnasium. The second-ranked WolfPack, who have won 23 consecutive matches over the Chaparrals since 2006, posted a 6-1 record during the homestand and won 20 of the 23 sets played. For the season, the 'Pack went 7-1 on it's home floor.
The match wasn't without drama, as Madison College (21-2, 7-1) allowed the College of DuPage (9-18, 6-3) to hang around in all three sets, winning by scores of 25-20, 25-21, and 25-17. Overall, the home team tallied an attack percentage of .276 on 41 kills and served up five aces.
Sophomores
Keifer Zimmerman and
TeAnn Harms led the attack with a dozen kills each, with Harms hitting an impressive .611 on the night. Fellow second year
Taylor Genthe aided with 31 assists, part of 38 total for the WolfPack.
Defensively,
Andrea Bauer and
Kaitlin Mooney highlighted the team's effort with 18 and 13 digs, respectively. Bauer also had a team-high two aces.
Madison College will play it's remaining six regular season matches away from Redsten Gymnasium, starting Thursday, October 6 at Carthage College (NCAA Division III) in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The WolfPack is 2-1 all-time against the Lady Reds JV squad. First serve is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
