CRYSTAL LAKE, ILL. - The Madison College women's volleyball team suffered their fourth loss of the season on Monday, a four-set affair against #11 McHenry County College (NJCAA DII) to wrap up the regular season with a 25-4 record. The non-conference road setback was their second straight, marking the only time this fall the #2 WolfPack have dropped back-to-back matches.
The Scots (26-12), champions of the Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference for a second straight year, won the first two sets by scores of 25-17 and 25-18. Madison College kept their hopes alive for a season-ending win by taking the third set 25-19, but struggled to a 25-14 loss in the fourth set. The WolfPack hit just .168 for the match with 14 attack errors. They finished with 14 fewer kills and 26 fewer assists.
Sophomore
TeAnn Harms was the lone player in double-figures for Madison College, tallying ten kills on a team-leading .346 hitting percentage. The Reedsburg, Wisconsin, native leads the team with 3.17 kills per set.
Andrea Bauer had eight kills to finish the regular season as the team leader with 288 kills. The duo also had four blocks a piece to pace the WolfPack defense, while Bauer added 11 digs.
Sophomore libero
Kaitlin Mooney was tops along the back line with 15 digs, for a team-best total of 517 (5.17 per set) digs on the year.
Keifer Zimmerman had 14 digs.
Taylor Genthe, a sophomore from Spring Green, Wisconsin, finished the night with 19 assists, nine digs, and a team-best three services aces. The WolfPack had seven aces in all. Genthe ends the regular season leading the team in assists with 694, giving her an average of 6.94 per set.
The loss ended a three-match win streak for the 'Pack against McHenry County, who leads the all-time series 9-4.Â
Madison College will begin postseason play on Wednesday, October 26 with a NJCAA Region IV Division III Quarterfinal matchup against Milwaukee Area Technical College (1-21). The WolfPack swept both matches against the Stormers this season, extending the match win streak against the in-state rivals to 29, the last 14 of which have come in three sets. In 101 all-time meetings, Madison College has dominated the series by a 76-22 margin, with three matches ending in a tie.
First serve at H. Douglas Redsten Gymnasium is set for 6:00 p.m. The winner advances to the NJCAA Region IV Division III Tournament on Saturday, October 29, hosted by Madison College.
