MADISON, WISC. - There was very little drama as to who was going to advance past Wednesday's Region IV Division III women's volleyball quarterfinal, as second-ranked and second-seeded Madison College swept rival and seventh-seeded Milwaukee Area Technical College, 3-0, at Redsten Gymnasium. The WolfPack dominated by scores of 25-11, 25-14, and 25-9 to extend their winning streak over the Stormers to 30 straight matches, including 15 consecutive sweeps.
Madison College (26-4) was efficient in all phases of the game, compiling 39 kills and just ten attack errors to hit at a .337 clip for the match. The WolfPack also served up a dozen aces for their sixth match with double-digit aces in the last 11 played.
Sophomore
Taylor Genthe led the WolfPack in kills for the first time this season, amassing a season-high 11 on the night. The Spring Green, Wisconsin, native also had nine assists, five digs, and an ace.
Andrea Bauer pitched in with nine kills and a .643 hitting percentage. Middle blockerÂ
TeAnn Harms hit a team-best .714, but was limited to just five kills while playing only the first set.
Freshman setter Keely Brown dished out a match-high 16 assists. Keifer Zimmerman led the service barrage with career-best six aces.
Natasha Swiggum controlled portions of the second set with four kills and four blocks, and
Kaitlin Mooney covered the back row with 18 digs.
The loss for Milwaukee Area Technical College ends the Stormers season with a 1-22 record.
Madison College advances to the semifinals of the Region IV Division III Tournament, to be held Redsten Gymnasium. The WolfPack will take on #3-seed Rock Valley College (16-12) at noon. The Golden Eagles downed #6-seed Elgin Community College, 3-0, on Wednesday. Madison College swept the regular season series against RVC and have won 12 straight matches overall. The all-time series belongs to the Golden Eagles with a 33-22 advantage and one tie. The winner will advance to the 2:00 p.m. championship game against either top-ranked and top-seeded Harper College (38-1) and #4-seed College of DuPage (13-23). That semifinal begins at 10:00 a.m.
