JOLIET, ILL. - The Madison College women's volleyball team took care of business Tuesday with a relatively easy three-set sweep of host Joliet Junior College in a North Central Community College Conference match. The #2 WolfPack won by scores of 25-15, 25-12, and 25-12 to increase their current win streak to four matches, while boosting their head-to-head win streak against the Wolves to a dozen. In those 12 matches, JCC has won just three sets and has dropped 16 straight sets.
A significant portion of the damage was done at the service line, where Madison College (23-2, 8-1) racked up a season-high 18 aces. Sophomore
Kaitlin Mooney led the way with five aces, while fellow second year players
Andrea Bauer and
Taylor Genthe each had four. Four additional WolfPack players also had aces against the Joliet Junior College (3-20, 2-7) receive.
The rest of the match numbers were not spectacular, as Madison College hit just a .181 hitting percentage overall with 28 kills in 72 attack attempts.
Keifer Zimmerman led the way with eight kills, to go along with a team-high 12 digs.
Andrea Bauer, who hit a team-best .750, finished with seven kills, as did
Natasha Swiggum.
Taylor Genthe finished with 25 assists.
Madison College continues its season-ending road trip on Thursday, October 13 against Milwaukee Area Technical College (1-17, 0-10). The WolfPack have won 28 straight matches against the in-state rival Stormers, a streak that includes 14 consecutive sweeps and just three sets lost overall since 2003. The all-time series stands at 75-21-2 in favor of the 'Pack. First serve in Milwaukee is set for 7:00 p.m.
